In 1933 Maynard Mensinger began Orchard Knoll Market and quickly outgrew its location. Orchard Knoll then moved to South 3rd Street in Bethlehem where it grew and successfully thrived until 2008 when it moved to its current location, having to move when that property became eminent domain with Bethlehem’s growing needs at that location.
Although Mr. Mensinger passed away in 1997, It was still under the management of Mr. Carl Raub, who customers affectionately referred to as “Reds”. Carl had a love for not only Orchard Knoll, but each and every customer, which added to the success of the market, keeping with the family theme.
In 2013, Tami and Roger King became the proud new owners of this historical seafood market, and have made several changes in the stores appearance by adding a fresh new look, and many new products. The theme remains the same, which is family owned and operated. The high quality seafood, and certainly the clams which put Orchard Knoll on the map remain top notch. Roger left his position of working in the O.R. at Lehigh Valley Hospital and Tami from her retail sales position at Sears to devote their passions to keeping Orchard Knoll around for another 83 years.
If you want the small town feel of a small town business, break out of the big chain supermarkets with big supermarket prices and come see what quality, freshness and service with a smile is all about. Come to Orchard Knoll Seafood, where everyone is treated like family.
